When it comes to Georgia's interests and protecting these interests, the topic of visas is out of place at all. If someone thinks that the country should be governed from the outside, everyone should understand, both inside and outside the country - this will not happen, - Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze told journalists when responding to imposition of visa restrictions by Switzerland on holders of Georgian diplomatic, official or service passports.
According to him, this is a double standard and an attitude towards the Georgian state that is unacceptable.
“Let’s remember what threats, what kind of appeals were made against Georgia. When we talk about the interests of the country and the protection of these interests, the topic of visas is completely out of place.
Today, the Georgian Dream is ruling the Georgian state, the majority of our country’s population has chosen the Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia for more than a decade, and this is not by chance. Do people choose the Georgian Dream by chance?
The Georgian Dream is the government that protects the interests of our country and protects the Georgian people.
I am sure that if the Georgian Dream were not in power and if it were that treacherous group that is being presented today as some kind of opposition, we would have trouble in Georgia.
Accordingly, people see this and analyze, evaluate and then make a decision at the elections. This is a simple fact. If someone thinks that the country should be governed from the outside and by giving orders, that someone will bow their head and do stupid things, take steps against the country, this will not happen. Everyone should understand this, both inside and outside the country,” Kakha Kaladze said.
As a reminder, Switzerland has imposed visa restrictions on holders of Georgian diplomatic, official or service passports, the press service of the Swiss Federal Council released a statement.
“From April 3, holders of Georgian diplomatic, official or service passports will need a visa to enter Switzerland,” the statement reads.
