According to Mikheil Kavelashvili, it is the government’s strong desire to reset relations between the United States and Georgia.
As Kavelashvili told journalists, Washington also wants to reset relations with Georgia, and this has become evident.
According to him, some forces are mocking all of this.
“When we speak through the media, we are addressing our society and constantly trying to ensure that the people of Georgia are as informed as possible, that we remain consistent in what we say during any meeting and what expectations exist. You may recall how much ridicule there was during my visit to the UN, when I held meetings. At that time, it was said that they would return to this issue. Later, I had meetings in Milan with J.D. Vance and also with Secretary of State Marco Rubio; there too, it was discussed that they were working on this issue and would definitely return to us. Also, last week there was a phone conversation with the Prime Minister. This is a consistent direction we are talking about, and it is being fulfilled.
Of course, those forces who treat all of this with ridicule are clearly in a weakened position in Georgian society and their presence is diminishing. It will diminish even further, because when your entire campaign is based on lies, hatred, and polarization, and especially when it is not driven by a small group of Georgian citizens but is directed from abroad, then these actors are clearly agents operating beyond Georgia’s borders. The existence of such people is becoming even more evident. But once again, our focus is on our society. I would like to once again call on and ask them, despite these disinformation and speculations, to always listen to the information coming from the government, from those people who are directly in contact with representatives of various states.
How all of this concludes is the main issue for our society. We will continue this policy. Of course, our strong desire is for this process to be reset. Their [the U.S.] desire is also there, and this has become evident. Timing is also very important, because, as has been stated, there was a great deal of negativity left by the previous administration, and our society saw very clearly how things were then and how the process has changed. We must remain consistent,” Kavelashvili said.
