Archbishop Zenon: The Synod session was held in a very civilized and calm environment - an election commission was created; decisions on education and age will be made at the next session

According to Archbishop Zenon, no decision was made at today’s Holy Synod session regarding the age and education requirements for a Patriarchal candidate.

As he stated after the session, the discussion mainly focused on procedural matters, and an election commission was established.

“It was a six-hour session. It was conducted in a very civilized and calm environment. We expressed our views on various issues. The main discussion was about procedural matters. An election commission was created. As for the issues of education and age, a decision on these will be made at the next session.

There was a general discussion. It was not considered a matter to be decided at this Synod session and was postponed until the next meeting. There was an exchange of opinions. This is not an issue of an imperative nature. The outcome will depend on a vote and how the majority decides. Everything will be decided at one session. The next will be an extended Synod session, where we will elect the Patriarch,” Archbishop Zenon said.
