Two juveniles convicted in the case of the deceased teacher Giga Avaliani - Aleksandre Gabashvili and Giorgi Rikadze - have been sentenced to 14 years in prison each.

As for Demetre Chikovani, he was sentenced to 9 years in prison.

The decision was made by Judge Romeo Tkeshelashvili.

According to the Juvenile Justice Code, the sentences of the convicted were reduced by 1/4, respectively, Gabashvili and Rikadze will serve 10 years and 6 months in a penitentiary institution, and Demetre Chikovani will serve 6 years and 9 months.

Judge Romeo Tkeshelashvili found Aleksandre Gabashvili and Giorgi Rikadze guilty on April 4 of both articles of the indictment, and Demetre Chikovani guilty of two parts of one article. Namely, of intentional grievous bodily harm by a group, resulting in death, as well as of organizing and participating in group violence.

Aleksandre Gabashvili and Demetre Chikovani attended the hearing, while Giorgi Rikadze refused to appear at the hearing.

The convicts have the right to remain silent.

For information, Aleksandre Gabashvili and Giorgi Rikadze were charged under Part 4 of Article 117 of the Criminal Code, which refers to intentional grievous bodily harm by a group, resulting in death. Demetre Chikovani, Aleksandre Gabashvili, and Giorgi Rikadze were also charged in the "Didi Dighomi" episode under Article 225, Part 1 and Part 2 of the Criminal Code, which involves organizing and participating in group violence.
