According to an activist, a man was detained near the Parliament for attempting to remove flowers brought by government representatives from the memorial

Near the Parliament, where citizens continue to gather to pay tribute to the memory of those killed on April 9, police detained one person a short while ago.

As civil activist Mariam Mekantsishvili told InterpressNews, the man was trying to take away the bouquets from the memorial area that the government had brought to honor the memory of the victims.

According to her, the man also swore at Bidzina Ivanishvili, which became the reason for his detention.

“He was trampling on the main foundation of the April 9 Memorial with the ‘wreaths’ brought by the Russians. This was not respect for the fallen heroes who died fighting Russia for Georgia’s freedom. The Russians ran over these people with tanks, cut off their heads with iron bars, and this person had every legitimate right to remove the ‘wreaths’ brought by the Russians. He also swore at the Russian Bidzina Ivanishvili, which is his freedom of expression, and he was detained for that,” Mariam Mekantsishvili stated.
