“The army has the best food, even compared to NATO member states! It is the best in terms of nutrition, infrastructure, all conditions, and social packages that exist,” said First Deputy Minister of Defense Grigol Giorgadze during a plenary session of Parliament, where he presented planned amendments to the “Defense Code.”
In response to a question from Vika Philphani, a member of the “For Georgia” faction—“For so many years, has the army been eating poisoned food according to NATO standards?”—Giorgadze stated that the army had not been eating poisoned food.
“More than half of the military personnel join compulsory service voluntarily. This is due precisely to the conditions created by the Ministry of Defense for young people in the army. It is beneficial for them both for personal development and physical fitness, as well as for the needs of the country, to ensure a strong reserve force.
The army has the best food, even compared to NATO member states. It is the best in terms of nutrition, infrastructure, all conditions, and social packages that exist.
The army has not been eating poisoned food. There is daily monitoring and preventive measures. If, during the process—before the food reaches the dining hall—any issue is identified, that is a different matter. Let’s not confuse the two,” Grigol Giorgadze said in response to the opposition MP.
