Parliament passes amendments to the Law on Grants

The Parliament of Georgia considered the amendment to the Law on Grants in the third reading, in an expedited manner, and supported it with 72 votes.

The issue was presented at the plenary session by Archil Gorduladze, Chairman of the Legal Issues Committee.

According to the amendment, funds issued by diplomatic missions, consular offices and international organizations accredited in Georgia that are used or may be used for activities that stem from the political or public interests, approaches or relations of the government of a foreign country or a foreign political party are not considered grants.

Also, the rule for issuing grants by a foreign grantor will not apply to the organization provided for by the Law of Georgia on the Georgian Red Cross Society, as well as to grants issued by the same organization.

This rule will also not apply to grants issued by a financial and credit institution.
