Giorgi Sioridze: They launched a dangerous game by demanding the banning of parties - now they themselves are confused and have even disoriented their patron, Ivanishvili - they don’t know how this process should continue or end

“The issue of banning political parties will be a very important episode in the political and historical judgment of ‘Georgian Dream,’” said Giorgi Sioridze, a member of “Lelo – Strong Georgia.”

According to him, no concrete steps have been taken in this direction for several months, which indicates that “Georgian Dream” does not know how to proceed with or conclude this process.

“They started this very dangerous game, and now they themselves are confused. They have even disoriented their own patron, Bidzina Ivanishvili. This process should have already begun in the Constitutional Court months ago, yet we have seen no action, which is a clear sign that they do not know how to move forward or how to bring it to an end.

Ultimately, all of this is pushing the country into a spiral whose outcome is not only a political crisis, not only isolation, but also poverty, rising unemployment, increasing prices — everything that places a heavy burden on every citizen. ‘Georgian Dream’ is responsible for this, and any further steps they take in this direction will only deepen the crisis, intensify polarization, and ultimately backfire on them,” Sioridze said.

For context, “Georgian Dream” plans to submit a new constitutional lawsuit to the Constitutional Court regarding the banning of political parties, while withdrawing its previous claim. Under the new lawsuit, the number of parties whose prohibition is being requested will increase, with the “Federalists” party added to the list.
