Marta Kos: It is impossible to discuss a real connectivity agenda without Georgia

“It is impossible to discuss a real connectivity agenda without Georgia,” said European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos during a meeting of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Marta Kos was responding to a question about the importance of the Middle Corridor.

“A large part of my work is related to the connectivity agenda. This means connecting Europe with Central Asia. The northern trade route is no longer available, and in the south, due to the war in Iran, it is also not an option - therefore, the best route is the Middle Corridor. We are engaged and in talks with Azerbaijan and Turkey. We have funded the electricity network linking Armenia and Georgia. It is impossible to discuss a real connectivity agenda without Georgia, and this project enabled Armenia to receive sufficient electricity from Georgia. So when we speak with Armenia, we also take Georgia into account, but we can only involve Georgia to the extent that it itself expresses willingness to engage in other areas,” Kos stated.
