Anaklia should have become the main guarantor of security, economic development and stability. However, we see that the Anaklia port has been stalled for the seventh year. Anaklia, as an idea, was killed by Bidzina Ivanishvili. For the seventh year, no real work has been underway to implement and build the Anaklia project and port for the benefit of the Georgian people and the Georgian state. Ivanishvili has violated all the conditions. Every year, he tries to deceive the public, as if he is going to take any effective steps in the Anaklia port. We clearly see that this territory is abandoned and all possible chances were lost under Ivanishvili. However, we must understand that the situation is changing now. Given the fact that our Western partners, the US, President Donald Trump is once again interested in Georgia, as with a new strategic opportunity, in the conditions of Georgia's transit policy, it is important for us that Georgia and the Georgian people do not lose this chance now.

While Bidzina Ivanishvili is not taking effective steps, society and we must force him to return the main content to the Anaklia port - security, real guarantees of defense, economic development. The fact that the first ship should have been received by the Anaklia port in 2020, the work of this port should have filled the budget with hundreds of millions of laris, pensions should have been increased, Samegrelo should have been developed, for which it would have been the epicenter of new economic development, taking into account this new situation and condition, when the United States, the Western world once again urgently raises the question of how important the Anaklia port is for our Western partners, we once again declare that the Anaklia port should become a project of national importance.

Anaklia is not a business project, Anaklia is not just another infrastructure project. Anaklia should be given the status of a strategic facility and become the number one national project for Georgia. We must be able to prevent the construction of Anaklia from involving all those controversial, dubious financial institutions that are connected to the interests of either Russia or China. Anaklia should be built with the support of the main, important authoritative financial institutions of the Euro-Atlantic and the world, and most importantly, all agreements should be public in order not to repeat the mistakes that Ivanishvili and the society, which had little control over this process, made at the time.

Therefore, we say once again that the Anaklia project, which was killed by Bidzina Ivanishvili, today in this new situation, when the conflict situation between Armenia and Azerbaijan has been resolved and a new, very important transit route has appeared in our region, called the “Trump Road”, this route should not bypass Georgia. In order for Georgia not to lose the opportunity and be a real continuation of the “Trump Road”, a gateway to the West, on the path of relations with Europe, economic relations, for this, the Anaklia port must be built. Our coalition was, is and will be the main supporter of the Anaklia port. The Anaklia port will definitely be built because Georgia needs it and the Georgian people need Anaklia,” said Kupradze.
