Fines for improper disposal and sale of used tires, scrap, decommissioned vehicles, and easily flammable and fragile materials will be extended to all municipalities beyond Tbilisi

Administrative fines, which currently apply only within Tbilisi for the improper disposal and sale of used tires, scrap metal, decommissioned vehicles, and easily flammable, explosive, or fragile materials, will now be extended to all municipalities across the country.

The Parliament adopted, in the third reading, amendments to the “Code of Administrative Offences,” according to which the relevant financial sanctions will be enforced not only in Tbilisi but also throughout the rest of Georgia.

According to the draft law, the placement or sale of used tires, scrap iron and non-ferrous metals, decommissioned vehicles and their parts, as well as easily flammable, explosive, or fragile materials in areas not designated by the relevant municipal council will result in a fine of 2,500 GEL for individuals and 5,000 GEL for legal entities. In case of repeated violations, individuals will be fined 5,000 GEL and legal entities 15,000 GEL.

If the violation is committed in a cultural heritage protection zone defined under the “Law on Cultural Heritage,” it will result in a fine of 5,000 GEL for individuals and 10,000 GEL for legal entities. In case of repetition, individuals will be fined 10,000 GEL and legal entities 30,000 GEL.

In addition, placing or selling the above-mentioned materials in violation of municipal council regulations will result in a fine of 1,000 GEL for individuals and 2,500 GEL for legal entities. In case of repeated violations, individuals will be fined 2,500 GEL and legal entities 5,000 GEL.

If this violation occurs in a cultural heritage protection zone, it will result in a fine of 2,500 GEL for individuals and 5,000 GEL for legal entities, and in case of repetition, individuals will be fined 5,000 GEL and legal entities 15,000 GEL.
