On May 7-8, National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) hosted the 2026 International Insurance Forum in Washington, D.C. Along with the representatives from various countries around the world, David Onoprishvili, Chairman of the Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia (ISSSG), participated in the event at the official invitation of the organizer.
According to the Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia, the International Insurance Forum annually hosts up to 300 participants for thought-provoking discussions on key topics driving the insurance sector, including the ever-changing investment landscape, climate risk and resiliency, technology and innovation and emerging risks.
“Key Topics of the 2026 Forum included: Cyber security and Operational Risks: Strengthening industry protection mechanisms amidst rising cybercrimes; Financial Literacy: Raising consumer awareness and emphasizing the role of insurance in overall financial health; Technological Progress: New data processing methods in health insurance and the protection of personal data; Climate Change: Strategies for addressing natural catastrophe protection gaps.
During the visit, David Onoprishvili held bilateral meetings with American colleagues and leading industry experts. Particular attention was given to a constructive dialogue with Scott White, NAIC President and Commissioner of the Virginia Bureau of Insurance. In addition, the Chairman of the ISSSG met with insurance commissioners from the states of Connecticut, California, and Georgia. The parties discussed the improvement of supervisory and legislative frameworks, technological innovations and the current global challenges in the insurance market.
