“Was the [price study] commission about education? Did they receive certificates, issue them, or what did they actually do? Can anyone tell us what benefit a Georgian citizen received as a result of their commission?” said Levan Samushia, one of the leaders of the “Lelo - Strong Georgia” party, in the TV program "Resume" on PalitraNews, responding to a statement by the Chair of the Parliament’s Economic Policy Committee, Shota Berekashvili, who said: “This was not a price-cutting commission, but a price study commission.”
According to Samushia, when “Georgian Dream” tells the public that the commission was not created to reduce prices but only to study them, it is an insult to citizens.
“Today they are telling us that the commission was not created to reduce prices - this is mockery. It is not just a lack of results; it is mockery of Georgian citizens.
They started a ‘fight’ against prices, they were talking about cartel agreements two or three months ago - look at their statements. They think Georgian citizens have no memory; don’t they realize people can go back and read what they said?
When they started inquiries into prices, listen to what Kobakhidze was saying: ‘We started a fight, the price of eggs has gone down’ - they almost announced it with celebration.
And look at the situation today: is this a commission to reduce prices, or to increase them? Did prices go down or up? Did citizens receive any relief? Was the commission about education? Were they studying price formation? Did they receive certificates, issue them, or what did they actually do?
Can anyone tell us what benefit Georgian citizens received from this commission? After it was created, did prices go down or up? Of course they went up. Even word manipulation no longer works - it’s unbelievable.
Kobakhidze was talking about absurd meat prices. I was in regional meetings and people were furious, telling us ‘they are mocking us.’
And now to say that the commission was not created to reduce prices but only to study them - that is mockery of citizens,” Samushia said.
