Within the framework of the 135th session of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers in Chișinău, Georgia’s Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili met with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
The information was released by the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the ministry, the meeting represented a further step following recent communications between representatives of the Ukrainian and Georgian governments.
“During the meeting, the discussion focused on Georgia’s consistent political and humanitarian support for Ukraine. At the same time, the Georgian side emphasized the existing challenges in Georgia–Ukraine relations, the steps taken by the Ukrainian authorities in recent years, and those positions that hinder the normalization of relations between the two countries.
The sides reaffirmed the importance of restoring healthy diplomatic relations and their readiness to continue dialogue,” the statement said.
Bochorishvili also held a meeting with the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel.
The meeting emphasized the importance of dialogue. Discussions covered relations with the European Union, as well as ongoing developments in the region and in Georgia. Georgia’s progress in terms of economic development and existing priorities in this direction were highlighted. Emphasis was also placed on Georgia’s role and prospects in the context of regional connectivity.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the discussion also addressed security challenges and the situation in Georgia’s occupied regions. The parties also discussed cooperation within multilateral formats.
Bochorishvili also met with Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić.
During the meeting, the sides discussed existing cooperation between Georgia and Serbia. Attention was focused on the dynamics of economic and trade relations, and the importance of exchanging high-level visits was emphasized.
The parties also discussed the situation in the region and challenges on the path toward European integration.
The ministers once again reaffirmed their mutual respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and the Republic of Serbia.
