Grigol Gegelia - Maka Botchorishvili's statement is yet another proof that the Georgian Dream regime lacks the ability to make independent decisions - the regime continues to trade in national interests

Maka Botchorishvili’s statement is yet another clear proof that the Georgian Dream regime lacks the ability to form an independent opinion and make decisions, said Grigol Gegelia, the Foreign Secretary of Strong Georgia – Lelo.

He responded to the statement of Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili, in which she explained why Georgia did not join the agreement to establish a special tribunal to investigate the crime of aggression against Ukraine.

According to Gegelia, “the regime is trading in values.”

“This regime continues to trade with Georgia’s national interests and the values that, of course, connect Georgia with the international community. We see that a civilized world is creating a tribunal that will be a kind of moral foundation for a new, European security and political order, which speaks very clearly about the fascist actions of the Russian Federation. At the same time, we see that the so-called Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia is stating that she will monitor the attitude of states towards the Dream regime, in the process of forming an opinion on the establishment of the tribunal, which is very clear evidence that this regime is trading with values and Georgian national interests, because it represents the interests, will of the Russian occupation regime, and not the historically valuable choice and sovereign foreign policy course of the Georgian people,” Gegelia said.

For information, the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the 46 member states of the Council of Europe was held in Moldova on May 15. At the meeting, 36 countries and the European Union expressed their intention to join the new enlarged partial agreement on the establishment of a special tribunal to investigate the crime of aggression against Ukraine.

Thirty-four member states of the Council of Europe (Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Republic of Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, the United Kingdom), as well as the European Union, Australia and Costa Rica, expressed their desire to participate in it.
