The presence of Russian troops in Georgia and Moldova poses a risk to European security, EU High Representative Kaja Kallas said in Cyprus after an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers.
She responded to a question about whether there was consensus among member states on a document of demands she had put forward relating to possible negotiations with Russia.
“The ministers also put forward other concessions. As for Russian troops in Georgia and Moldova, this is one of the ideas, because when we are talking about the core security interests of Europe and when these countries are trying to be on the European path, the presence of Russian troops there is a clear security risk and it is in our interest for them to leave. No one is against this, so this is being discussed again,” Kallas said.
