One of the leaders of the Strong Georgia Lelo party, Salome Samadashvili, states that after a long pause, a positive interest has emerged from the United States regarding the ongoing processes in Georgia, which should be assessed as a clearly positive event.
Salome Samadashvili assessed the visit of the US State Department delegation.
In particular, Samadashvili expressed her public position regarding the statement that the US Embassy published two days ago.
Salome Samadashvili also touched on the topic of the parliamentary boycott.
Samadashvili called the position of the opposition in favor of the boycott and the statements they made irresponsible.
The leader of Strong Georgia - Lelo believes that part of the opposition supporting the boycott is using the US Embassy's statement and the State Department's summary document of the visit to justify their position.
"I heard irresponsible statements during the assessments made on the statement of the United States of America. I will say very frankly that there were ignorant and very unprofessional assessments when people try to sell their own thoughts as the position of the American side. I want to tell you directly that if anyone considers the Georgian people stupid, I do not consider so and the opposition has nothing left to talk to the Georgian people except sincerity. The record that was made regarding the boycott is public, anyone can read it, where it is written directly in black and white that the opinion of the American side is that when it spoke to the opposition, it stated its position that the interests of the Georgian people, voters, should be protected, including by participating in political processes, and this is a record that is clearly stated regarding the boycott. No one in the civilized democratic states of the world supports an election boycott for the simple reason that an election boycott has never brought any results except harm to the opposition. Our Western partners are not ill-wishers to support an election boycott, which is harmful to te people and produces zero results for the country," Salome Samadashvili noted.
