A working group will be established to actively work on providing specific medications for children suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced following his meeting with the children's parents.
According to the Prime Minister, the parties agreed on specific medications for which efforts to secure access will now begin.
“We agreed at today’s meeting that a working group will be created, comprising representatives of the Ministry of Health and the parents, which will actively work on the issue of providing specific medications for the children. In other words, during this meeting we agreed on specific medicines for which the process of ensuring access will begin.
The final decision regarding the procurement of these medications will be made based on various factors, including the conditions offered by pharmaceutical companies. A special working group will be established, a concrete working process will begin, and, of course, the parents will be kept continuously informed about developments.
We have agreed on specific medications, which we are not naming at this stage for particular reasons. However, the full group of parents will receive the appropriate information regarding them,” Kobakhidze said.
