The Prosecutor's Office is entering into a plea agreement with some of the defendants in one of the episodes related to the events that took place near the Atoneli Palace on October 4.
As it became clear during the trial, out of the 15 defendants, a plea agreement will not be signed at this stage with 7 people - Dr. Giorgi Chakhunashvili, Ia Darakhvelidze, Zakro Albutashvili, Davit Zhgenti, Konstantine Kokaia, Kakhaber Mzhavanadze and Davit Sturua. They do not admit to the charges.
Plea agreements will be signed with the following individuals: Eva Shanshiashvili, Aleksandre Gogoladze, Gocha Katashvili, Sulkhan Abralava, Ramaz Jorbenadze, Jandri Tirkia, Genadi Kelikhashvili, Dato Gutskaya.
They pleaded guilty at today's trial and made the evidence undeniable. The remaining individuals stated at today's court hearing that they do not plead guilty and that on October 4, they defended the interests of Georgia and will continue to fight until the end.
As for the individuals who pleaded guilty, the case has been separated. After the court approves the plea agreement reached between the parties in a few days, the defendants will be released from the courtroom.
The prosecutor's office is signing a plea agreement with a 3-year suspended sentence for them.
For information, all those detained in connection with the events of October 4 - Eva Shanshiashvili, Aleksandre Gogoladze, Gocha Katashvili, Sulkhan Abralava,Ramaz Jorbenadze, Jandri Tirkia, Genadi Kelikhashvili, Dato Gutskaya, Ramaz Jorbenadze, Giorgi Chakhunashvili, Ia Darakhvelidze, Zakro Albutashvili, Davit Zhgenti, Konstantine Kokaia, Kakhaber Mzhavanadze and Davit Sturua were charged under Article 19-222, Part 2, Subparagraph “a” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which implies an attempt to seize and block objects of strategic and special importance committed by a group. They have been charged under Part 2 of Article 225 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which includes participation in group violence.
Ia Darakhvelidze, Giorgi Chakhunashvili, and Eva Shashiashvili are free on bail.
