Irakli Pavlenishvili: United National Movement’ must receive new life, it will be interesting to see Nanuka Zhorzholiani in the party ranks - we are not leaving the ‘Opposition Alliance’ at this stage, but there is an unproductive environment there

Mikheil Saakashvili’s post was not a surprise for us. In the coming months we will definitely hold a congress, after which the “United National Movement” must receive new life — this was stated by one of the leaders of the “United National Movement,” Irakli Pavlenishvili, responding to former President Mikheil Saakashvili’s social media post about renewing the party.

In an interview on “PalitraNews” program “Resume,” Irakli Pavlenishvili said it would be very interesting and positive to see Nanuka Zhorzholiani and her team in the ranks of the “United National Movement.”

“A new approach and a new force are definitely needed. It would be good to see new faces in the ‘United National Movement.’ We know that Ms. Nanuka, together with her team, is very active, and it would be very interesting and positive to see them in the ranks of the ‘United National Movement.’ For now, this is an ongoing process — consultations have not been completed. It is a working and ongoing process. There is goodwill from both sides, so we will see what happens in the future,” Pavlenishvili said.

Regarding the relationship between the “Opposition Alliance” and the “United National Movement,” Pavlenishvili stated that the party will not leave the alliance at this stage.

“Very simply, at this stage we are not leaving the alliance because no tactical reasons or grounds for that have emerged. The fact that the alliance is dysfunctional at this stage is due to the unproductive environment created by unethical statements, attacks, and a constantly aggressive tone. There is no working environment. Instead of discussing a concrete agenda or, for example, joining the June 20 rally, they say it was announced by Saakashvili and shift to personal attacks,” he said.
