Giorgi Baramidze says National Movement does not intend to leave Opposition Alliance

We are not leaving anything, we are in the Alliance. We are not going to leave it - Giorgi Baramidze, a member of the National Movement, told journalists.

According to him, unity is important.

“We have repeatedly said that creating an alliance does not mean that those who did not love each other before will suddenly fall in love with each other. We have been talking about this for a long time, that we must manage to put our antipathy, hatred or other unpleasant emotions in the background and put in the foreground what is really important and important. We feel a responsibility to our country. Such a struggle to save Georgia requires unity. This is what Mikheil Saakashvili preaches and calls on our society and the political spectrum.

As for Nanuka Zhorzholiani’s joining the National Movement, there have been talks about it for some time. He does not hide such important decisions from us. This is his proposal. You know the weight of Mikheil Saakashvili, he has this idea, this goal. I welcome the addition of all kinds of good people, fighters, patriots. Now each such person is valuable. We may not know Nanuka as a politician, but the society knows her as an active, energetic, organized person whom so many people trust. We welcome the fact that she has a desire to be more actively involved in the activities of the National Movement. She is no stranger to us. The congress will be held soon.

We remain in the Alliance. We are not going to leave it. Because we believe that unity is important, despite everything. Sometimes we do not attend gatherings, this is our right. But this does not mean that we have left the Alliance," said Giorgi Baramidze.

as explained earlier this week, a meeting will take place between the European Commission and a delegation of Georgian officials. This is part of the standard process set out in the visa regulation, which takes place when the visa suspension mechanism is activated, and it follows the decision taken in March 2026 on March this year to suspend visa-free travel for Georgian holders of diplomatic service and official passports for an initial period of 12 months after member states had approved this measure. So, the aim of this meeting is to remedy the circumstances that led to the suspension, so this is what's going to be talked about.
