According to the Secretary General of Strong Georgia - Lelo, Irakli Kupradze, Strong Georgia - Lelo categorically demands the strictest punishment of all those responsible who participated in the footage released by TV Pirveli, where, “in fact, it is seen that law enforcement officers are actually torturing Georgian citizens, young people, in order to obtain the desired testimony”.

As Irakli Kupradze noted, today, at 19:00, everyone should join the march, which protests the violence “that exists around us under the Ivanishvili government and system”.

“I address the citizens who often distrust the facts that we are saying - yes, the law enforcement agencies in Georgia under Ivanishvili have become a systemic space of repression, violence, persecution and lawlessness!

We must all remember that today in our country, the children of Georgian citizens, your children, are stopped on the streets, beaten, tortured and abused at abandoned construction sites, as we saw in Gori, in closed police departments, in police buildings, but all this becomes clear and public only when someone manages to film all this and make it public.

Our main demand is that all the criminals be exposed and punished! We appeal to the public that today you must protect your children with a civil protest. Today, at 19:00, everyone should join the march that protests the violence that exists around us under the Ivanishvili government and system,” said Irakli Kupradze.

According to him, the fact depicted in the leaked footage occurred in 2022 and “for 4 years, those police officers remained in the system, used the state mandate and allegedly committed much more abuse against Georgian citizens.”

“The fact that the police officers were arrested in February indicates that they already had information about the leak of these public facts and video evidence. At some point, this would have become public. It is unclear and we still do not have information why the person who hacked the so-called chat and made this evidence public is being arrested. Exposing violent police officers is heroism when you are protecting an innocent, helpless citizen who is being beaten and tortured in police departments or in various buildings”, he said.

For information, TV Pirveli has disseminated teaser for Nodar Meladze's Saturday, which depicts the fact of violence committed by police officers. According to the TV company, the footage of the violence in question was filmed by police officers and sent to a common chat.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs responded to the information disseminated by TV Pirveli and explained that the crime in question was revealed in February of this year by the General Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, an investigation was launched based on the materials sent, and on February 23, 2026, the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia detained all three police officers as defendants.
