Geostat: Average salary in Georgia reached GEL 2,363.8 in Q1 2026

Georgia’s average monthly nominal salary increased by 8.9% (GEL 193.7) in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year, reaching GEL 2,363.8, according to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

According to the agency, the average salary for women in Q1 2026 stood at GEL 1,901.8, while the average salary for men reached GEL 2,836.0.

The highest average salaries by economic activity were recorded in the following sectors:

Financial and insurance activities — GEL 5,952.5 (up 7.9% year-on-year);Information and communication — GEL 4,290.7 (up 3.1%);Mining and quarrying — GEL 3,230.4 (up 11.8%);Professional, scientific and technical activities — GEL 3,186.0 (up 7.1%).

In Q1 2026, the average salary for women was GEL 1,901.8, while for men it was GEL 2,836.0. Annual wage growth amounted to GEL 157.7 (9.0%) for women and GEL 234.7 (9.0%) for men. Salaries for men exceeded those for women in nearly all sectors of economic activity.

In the business sector, the average monthly salary of employees increased by GEL 166.3 (7.7%) year-on-year, reaching GEL 2,335.9 in the first quarter of 2026. The highest salaries were recorded in the information and communication sector (GEL 4,358.6, up 2.4%) and in professional, scientific and technical activities (GEL 3,632.7, up 6.8%).

In the non-business and financial sectors, the average monthly salary increased by GEL 242.8 (11.2%) compared to the same period last year, reaching GEL 2,413.7. Employees in financial and insurance activities continued to receive some of the highest salaries among all sectors, the statement said.
