“I just learned from the media that someone named Giorgi Gedenidze has been fined 2,000 GEL for allegedly insulting me on Facebook.
I neither know Giorgi Gedenidze nor any insult from him. If I do not consider myself insulted, is the state ‘protecting’ my dignity without my consent?
And this is the same government that blackmailed me, arrested me four times, set ambushes for me, posted my photos all over Tbilisi before every election, secretly filmed my wife and child and then sent me the video, and who knows what else... such madness is unheard of,” Gvaramia wrote.
For context, Tbilisi City Court fined Giorgi Gedenidze 2,000 GEL for insulting Nika Gvaramia on Facebook. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on June 3, Gedenidze insulted Gvaramia in a comment under a post by “Imedi” on social media. The incident was identified by the Hate Speech Prevention Department. The case was reviewed under Article 166 of the Administrative Offences Code. Neither Gedenidze nor his legal representative attended the court hearing.
