Marat Kambolov appointed “prime minister” of occupied Tskhinvali region

Marat Kambolov has been appointed as the so-called “prime minister” of the occupied Tskhinvali region.

This was reported by media outlets in the occupied territory.

The appointment decree was signed by the region’s so-called “president,” Alan Gagloev, while Kambolov’s candidacy had previously been approved by the so-called “parliament.”

According to media citations, the newly appointed “prime minister” named the demographic situation as the main challenge facing the region.

“About one hundred thousand people lived in the republic thirty years ago. Today, officially there are a little over fifty thousand, and in reality, as we know, even fewer. Within one generation, South Ossetia has lost almost half of its population. Today this is our main challenge. Because an economy does not function without people, schools are unnecessary without children, and villages disappear without residents,” Kambolov said.
