Khatuna Totladze - We were and are ready to open and restore dialogue with the European Union, with any member state - with our deep belief, each law serves to improve the human rights situation in the country

Totladze also noted that the Georgian side was ready for a dialogue on human rights, however, according to her, "unfortunately, due to different opinions, the European Union itself refrained from listening to the arguments of the Georgian side, which are numerous."

“Regarding the laws adopted by the Parliament, explanations have been made repeatedly about what they serve. In our deep belief, each of these laws serves to improve the human rights situation in the country,” the Deputy Foreign Minister said.

Totladze introduced the draft recommendations submitted to Georgia by the UN Human Rights Council. The discussion of Georgia’s national report, which covers the years 2021-2025, was held in Geneva in January of this year.

307 recommendations were issued to Georgia, and according to the Deputy Foreign Minister, Georgia supported 159 of them.

According to Totladze, Georgia does not support 148 recommendations, including recommendations from the Russian Federation and those states that recognize the so-called independence of Georgia’s integral regions due to their loyalty to Russia.

According to Khatuna Totladze, Georgia also does not support recommendations that the state has either already implemented or is in the process of implementing, nor does it support recommendations that are of a political nature.
