Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia met Kokhir Rasulzoda, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan during his official visit to Dushanbe”, the Governermetn Administration reports.
During the one-on-one meeting, the two sides underscored the special significance of the Georgian Prime Minister's official visit to Tajikistan. They expressed confidence that the first-ever official visit at the highest level would elevate bilateral relations to a new stage and provide fresh momentum for expanding cooperation across a wide range of sectors.
The parties also highlighted the importance of strengthening coordination within international organizations and multilateral formats.
Following the tête-à-tête meeting, the talks continued in an expanded format with the participation of members of both governments.
Prime Minister Rasulzoda described the visit as a historic milestone and reaffirmed Tajikistan's commitment to deepening its friendly relations with Georgia.
"This is a historic moment for our countries. It is the first visit by the Head of the Government of Georgia to Tajikistan and I am confident that it will open a new and very important chapter in the history of our bilateral relations. Relations between our peoples have always been built on trust, mutual respect and sincerity. Georgians hold a special place in the hearts of the Tajik people because of their sincerity, rich culture and traditions. The contribution of Georgian professionals to Tajikistan's science, healthcare, construction and architecture occupies a distinguished place in our history. The name of one of the main avenues in the center of Dushanbe further symbolizes the close ties between our nations. Our countries have always understood one another well and today our shared objective is to give a strong new impetus to bilateral cooperation in every area," stated Kokhir Rasulzoda.
Irakli Kobakhidze thanked his Tajik counterpart for the warm welcome extended to the Georgian delegation.
"This is indeed a historic moment. It is the first official visit at the highest level from Georgia to Tajikistan. Our nations and our countries are connected by long standing historical traditions and friendship, and it is our responsibility to do our best to strengthen our partnership and cooperation. We reaffirm our commitment to this goal. I would also like to thank Tajikistan for its strong support for Georgia's national interests and for its consistent respect for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, which is of particular importance to our country," stated Irakli Kobakhidze.
Following the meeting, Georgia and the Republic of Tajikistan signed a number of bilateral agreements covering cooperation in various fields. The signing ceremony was attended by the Prime Ministers of both countries.
