“Members of the ‘For Georgia’ faction, you actually know what really happened and what your colleague did,” Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said after a physical confrontation broke out in the parliamentary plenary hall.
According to Papuashvili, although the parliamentary majority had maintained a collegial attitude toward the faction’s members, the behavior of one of the MPs was unacceptable.
“Despite the collegial attitude that the majority showed toward him and toward you, unfortunately, he did something that should not be done. This kind of behavior, which we witnessed from one of the representatives of the ‘For Georgia’ faction, must not be repeated in this hall,” Papuashvili said.
After the session resumed, the Speaker noted that the incident was regrettable and that such treatment of colleagues is unacceptable.
“It is very regrettable that today’s session reached such a point. What happened is unfortunate. I want to address the members of the ‘For Georgia’ faction: such behavior toward colleagues is not acceptable. Such tone and conduct as we saw is unacceptable. I do not want to go into the details,” Papuashvili said after the session resumed.
