Berdia Sichinava, one of the leaders of Gakharia for Georgia, said that those responsible for the physical confrontation in Parliament will have to take both professional and personal responsibility.
According to Sichinava, the ruling party is trying to create the impression for the public that the physical confrontation was initiated by the opposition, but in his view this does not correspond to reality.
“Today in the Parliament of Georgia we saw a disgraced, lying, incompetent prime minister delivering a report who cannot face the truth and decided to fight it with his own ‘party thugs’ group. Throughout this period they have been claiming they are fighting hate speech, but the entire public saw that violence has become the trademark of Georgian Dream and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, who has been physically assaulting students and young people since November–December and ‘chemically poisoning’ them.
Systemic violence has become the hallmark of Georgian Dream. Today, Irakli Kobakhidze has finally established himself as a violent prime minister and he will not escape responsibility.
We were always proud of Olympic champions who brought us great joy, but unfortunately, ‘Dream’ has turned Olympic champions into ‘party thugs.’ We saw how group violence was organized in the Parliament of Georgia. Acts of violence have already entered Parliament. Georgian Dream has neither the ability nor the competence for any so-called reset with anyone. It physically assaults its own citizens and opposes truth with violence. It clearly does not have the resources to be called a legitimate government or to run this country.
The fact is that this violence will definitely be answered, and everyone will have to take professional and personal responsibility for what happened today in the Parliament of Georgia.
Thank you to my colleagues who fought with dignity, with truth, and with words for the interests of Georgian citizens, speaking loudly against occupation in Parliament. Today, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze had nothing to say. He is the prime minister who brought Gavrilov to this country, and June 20, 2019 became a natural disaster. His name is linked to Gavrilov’s visit, hiding in Baku, and someone else announcing his resignation. A prime minister who promised society the punishment of the ‘National Movement’ started his term by arresting his own party members, destroying his own party and becoming its headache. He is the prime minister whose name is associated with a broken partnership with the US, a suspended EU integration process, activation of the “Moscow mechanism,” repression of youth, adoption of anti-democratic legislation, the Russian law, etc. And today his government has finally been established as a violent government.
They are trying to present it as if our team attacked theirs, as if Giga Pharulava physically attacked three Olympic champions,” said Berdia Sichinava.
