A person who openly, in front of the cameras, commits violence against a colleague in the parliament hall, whoever he is, of course, must be held accountable - we have seen such violence in the parliament hall from the strong-armed "pawns" of the Ivanishvili regime on many other occasions, - the chairwoman of the "United National Movement" Tina Bokuchava told journalists.
According to her, impunity normalizes violence in society.
"It is difficult to agree with Gakharia on anything. I believe that he and the Ivanishvili regime are two sides of the same coin and perform mutually beneficial functions, although, of course, elementary logic and justice require that when you put Mzia Amaglobeli in prison for many years for slapping a person and put many other people in prison for many years for any reason, a person who openly, in front of cameras, abuses a colleague in the parliamentary session hall, whoever he is, of course, should be held accountable. However, perhaps the public remembers that we have seen such violence on the part of the muscular "pawns" of the Ivanishvili regime in many other cases in the parliamentary session hall, including not only man against man, but man against woman. It is precisely through such actions and impunity that violence is normalized in society and a syndrome of impunity is introduced, which then brings very serious problems for society and the country,” Bokuchava said.
For information, on June 26, a verbal and physical confrontation took place in the parliament’s session hall. Gakharia for Georgia MPs and Georgian Dream members physically confronted each other.
The verbal and then physical confrontation followed a speech by MP Giorgi Sharashidze, in which he mentioned the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Georgia and said to the Prime Minister: “The whole of Georgia saw the footage of you standing in the corner, which indicates your real role and place in power. Georgia has never had a prime minister like this.”
