The founders of LLC “Kinderli Georgia,” accused in the so-called surrogacy case, have been sentenced to 10 years in prison each

The Tbilisi City Court fully shared the evidence presented by the Prosecutor's Office and sentenced the founders of LLC “Kinderli Georgia” to 10 years of imprisonment each for the misappropriation of a large amount of money by a group, using their official position and prior agreement. The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has released information about this.

“The evidence examined during the court proceedings confirmed that the accused established an intermediary company, LLC ‘Kinderli Georgia,’ in Tbilisi between biological parents and surrogate mothers. On behalf of the company, they signed contracts with biological parents and undertook the obligation to find surrogate mothers and ensure the birth of a child through in vitro fertilization (IVF).

Using this scheme, the accused attracted large sums of money from citizens of the People's Republic of China. Instead of covering the various expenses of the surrogate mothers and the remuneration stipulated in the contracts, they misappropriated, through abuse of their official position and acting as a group, more than 2,060,006.5 GEL belonging to both the prospective parents and the surrogate mothers.

The Tbilisi City Court found the accused guilty under Article 182, Part 2 (subparagraphs 'a', 'd') and Part 3 (subparagraph 'b') of the Criminal Code of Georgia (misappropriation of a large amount of money by a group using official position, with prior agreement). One of them was convicted in absentia,” the statement reads.
