The news agency „InterpressNews“ visited the Batumi Oil Terminal and Batumi Seaport for the first time

A correspondent of the news agency „InterpressNews“ personally participated in a press tour organized by “KazMunayGas” and “KazTransOil.” The tour was also attended by the Advisor to the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Georgia, Anuar Rakhimzhan, which once again emphasizes the importance of this event for the development of bilateral cooperation.

At the beginning of the media tour, when speaking with media representatives, the organizers noted that the Batumi Oil Terminal and Batumi Seaport are one of the largest employers in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, specifically in the city of Batumi. Today, more than 1,200 employees work here, and the enterprise is distinguished by its stability: “Many local residents work here with their families and continue professional dynasties.”

The General Director of the Batumi Oil Terminal, Marlen Tulegenov, and the General Director of the Batumi Seaport, Ulan Tleugal, provided detailed information to media representatives about how the Batumi Seaport ensures connectivity between the Caspian region, Central Asian countries, the Black Sea basin, and European markets. This plays an important role in the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (“Middle Corridor”).

The General Director of the Batumi Oil Terminal, Marlen Tulegenov, noted that in January-May 2026, 619 thousand tons of liquid cargo were transported through the terminal, and the enterprise continues to modernize its infrastructure to increase the efficiency of transportation between Asia and Europe.

“Thanks to modern universal infrastructure, the seaport has 11 berths and a berthless loading terminal, which allows it to simultaneously serve various categories of cargo - from petroleum products and containers to general and dry cargo,” noted the General Director of the Batumi Seaport, Ulan Tleugal.

As noted during the meeting with media representatives, cargo turnover growth exceeds the plan - according to the results of the first five months of 2026, 3.4 million tons of cargo were processed through the Batumi Seaport, which amounts to 111% of the planned volume. The port’s production capacities include 11 portal cranes and a specialized crane at berth No. 7 for loading carbamide.

During the visit to the Batumi Seaport, special attention was paid to the fact that, thanks to the modernization of energy infrastructure and the introduction of modern energy management systems, the port has confirmed compliance with the international “Eco Port” (“Green Port”) standard.

Employees of the Batumi Seaport noted that today it is important to ensure maximum loading of the port and compliance with safety standards, which is fully guaranteed at the enterprise. According to them, this is one of the most promising workplaces for the residents of Georgia, where there are opportunities for professional growth and a stable future.

“The Batumi Seaport has strategic importance both for the country and for the region. Of course, the role of the Kazakh side in all this is important, as it is Kazakhstan that has made the greatest contribution to the development of this facility. It is no less important to ensure the maximum loading of the port. As for the working conditions on site, as an employee of the enterprise, I can note that safety standards are fully observed here and a stable, dignified environment has been created,” noted shift technician Rezo Kiguradze.

At the end of the media tour, it was noted that the Batumi Seaport and the Batumi Oil Terminal continue to develop, modernize their infrastructure, and implement new technological solutions, which increases the competitiveness of the international transport corridor.

These companies are among the largest employers and conscientious taxpayers in Georgia and make a significant contribution to the development of the country’s economy. These are modern, economically sustainable enterprises that play an important role in the development of the region.

It is also noteworthy that the activities of the Batumi Oil Terminal and the Batumi Seaport contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Georgia and represent an important link in the development of economic, transport-logistical, and business ties between the two countries.
