We demand the removal of the corrupt markup from the prices of fuel, electricity, and food products, the halving of the fuel excise tax, and a return to the fair level of 2012, — this was stated by one of the leaders of the “United National Movement,” Lasha Parulava, at a briefing.
According to his explanation, the party also demands a reduction in the electricity tariff increased by 33% and the actual implementation of the village program.
“‘Georgian Dream’ promised the people a reduction in high prices, but the reality is the opposite — prices are rising, and the people are getting poorer. This is the system created by Bidzina Ivanishvili. Only oligopolies and the privileged groups of ‘Georgian Dream’ benefit from this system, which rob the Georgian people. It is clear that Bidzina Ivanishvili is responsible for this. I want to tell society about the 3 mechanisms by which the systematic robbery of our fellow citizens occurs: this is the fuel mafia, corruption of Bidzina Ivanishvili’s ‘clan’ in the energy sector, and, of course, the banking oligarchy, which gets rich at the expense of the Georgian people’s pockets, their profits grow, but the income and economic wealth of the Georgian people do not grow. Only the remuneration of ‘Georgian Dream’ officials is increasing in the country. 400 thousand children are starving, 400 thousand children are dependent on social assistance. We demand the removal and dismantling of this corrupt share, the 86% corrupt markup. Our demand is as follows — we demand the removal of the corrupt markup from the prices of fuel, electricity, and food products, the halving of the fuel excise tax, and a return to the fair level of 2012. A reduction in the electricity tariff increased by 33% and the announcement of a moratorium. What is most important is the end of the banking oligarchy and, what our fellow citizens in the villages need most, the real implementation of the village program,” Parulava stated.
