The Austrian Foreign Minister has given a very good response to the “Georgian Dream’s” shameless attempt, that “this is not a market, this is not trading in captives and slaves,” as Ivanishvili imagines it from the experience he gained in Russia in the 1990s. They have burned all bridges and are going to Iran to mourn, where “Death to America” will again be heard, - this is what member of “Strong Georgia - Lelo,” Giorgi Sioridze, stated in the “Palitra News” program “Day’s Newsroom.”
Sioridze responded to the statement made by Austrian Foreign and European Affairs Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger at the ALDE congress, in which she addressed the “Georgian Dream”: “There will be no compromise, especially on our fundamental values! This is not a market where your government could trade, start negotiations with us and we would weaken our position on fundamental values - this will never happen!”
According to Giorgi Sioridze, the “Georgian Dream” is trying to present it as if the ambassadors have personal positions, but in reality, when a diplomat speaks, and especially the first diplomat, the Foreign Minister, she expresses the position of her state.
“Austria is one of the most important figures and members of the European Union. Accordingly, it is clear that this is Austria’s position, which has a very great influence on the position of the European Union as a union, and I think a very good response has been given to the ‘Georgian Dream’s’ shameless attempt - this is not a market, this is not trading in captives and slaves, as Ivanishvili imagines it, perhaps from his experience in Russia in the 1990s. Everything is expected from them [the Georgian Dream]. They have burned all bridges and are going to Iran to mourn, where, as Kobakhidze used to go, ‘Death to America’ will again be heard.
Whoever has eyes, let them see; whoever has ears, let them hear. This is primarily addressed to those voters of the ‘Georgian Dream’ who still naively believe that the ‘Georgian Dream’ will lead this country toward something better,” he stated.
Regarding the resolution adopted by ALDE, which talks about the deterioration of democracy in Georgia, according to Giorgi Sioridze’s assessment, the resolution reflects the bitter truth, but reality.
“Of course, our partners are very concerned about what the ‘Georgian Dream’ has done to this country, but we must also understand well that they stand by the Georgian people. The ‘Georgian Dream’ does not have Western support as a political force, as an oppressive force, as a force responsible for all the regressions that the state has experienced, unfortunately, under the rule of the ‘Georgian Dream.’ The ‘Georgian Dream’ has distanced itself from European values, trampled on human rights, there are political repressions in this country, it is trying to ban parties, restrict the media and the non-governmental sector, suppress protests, and all this is fundamental values without which Eurointegration does not exist. And if Eurointegration is hindered and whoever is leading the country on this path, there are corresponding responses against him on the European orbit,” Sioridze stated.
According to him, representatives of “Strong Georgia - Lelo” met with the Prime Minister of Estonia, and the Foreign Ministers of Austria, Romania, and Ireland in parallel with their presence at the congress. According to Sioridze, the purpose of these meetings was what the “Georgian Dream” should be doing.
“The first and foremost direction is raising a voice against Georgia’s creeping annexation, making society hear this message. Our initiative - I am talking about my party - an amendment was made to the resolution to condemn the two Ossetian doctrines introduced by Russia and the puppet regime in Tskhinvali. The second important issue is the threat of suspending visa liberalization, which is real because of the actions of the ‘Georgian Dream,’” Giorgi Sioridze stated.
Regarding other issues, he also spoke about the statement of Economy Minister Mariam Kvriashvili, according to which the government has decided to build the Anaklia deep-water port according to the “landlord” model, whereby the state will remain the owner of the main maritime and port infrastructure and will ensure its development and management itself.
“The Economy Minister’s statement and whose mouth it is said from does not change anything, because previous ministers, prime ministers spoke about the fact that the Anaklia port will definitely be built. Show us, gentlemen, that it will be built. There was talk that a Chinese consortium should be there, and that didn’t work out either; they couldn’t even arrange that. Including talks on even more favorable conditions for them and more onerous conditions for Georgia - I will remind you of Kvriashvili’s visit to China a few months ago. Now with this statement, the ‘landlord’ principle, as if they said something new. A short time ago there was a statement from the ‘Georgian Dream’ foreign team that Georgia should have and has a multi-vector foreign policy. Big sorry! With what right, gentlemen?! Georgia has one main vector in foreign policy, which was determined by the Georgian people. As long as Article 78 is written in the Constitution of Georgia, big sorry, but it does not matter whether legitimate or especially illegitimate, no one has the right to deviate from this one defined vector. Not a single Western country is among their priorities, with whom they supposedly intend to build the Anaklia port according to this principle,” Sioridze stated.
