We see a group of people with terrorist thinking who, in words, pretend to fight the Soviet past, but in deeds have become loyal followers of the main moral formula of Bolshevik terror - "the end justifies the means", - the Chairman of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, writes on the social network.
According to him, society must see that those who justify an attempted terrorist act with "just goals" today will justify the murder of a human being tomorrow, using the same formula.
“It would probably be impossible to present the essence of the terrorist act more accurately than the prominent representatives of the radical opposition themselves were able to do.
Since yesterday, we have been reading and hearing assessments about the political motives of Elisashvili’s actions, which, in fact, directly justify why we are dealing with terrorism.
When we talk about terrorism, we must understand that terrorists are not unmotivated maniacs. Each of them tries to find a “noble” justification for their crime. Sometimes it is a fight for freedom, sometimes for justice, sometimes other things.
That is why Elisashvili’s final word was a typical example of terrorist thinking, as if he was fighting injustice, oppression, and the occupier. However, the goal declared by the perpetrator cannot justify the crime. On the contrary, justifying violent acts with political or ideological motives is one of the main signs of terrorism.
Within minutes of the verdict being announced, another circumstance became clear - we are not dealing with just one specific terrorist act. We are seeing a group of people with terrorist mindsets who, in words, supposedly fight the Soviet past, but in deeds have become loyal followers of the main moral formula of Bolshevik terror - "the end justifies the means."
They arrived at this point logically and consistently. In fact, in just a few years, the evolution of evil has taken place before our eyes: first, verbal violence and violation of human dignity were justified, then physical violence and violation of human health were justified, then the burning of the parliament and the storming of the presidential palace were justified, that is, the violation of the state and its constitutional institutions, and now terrorism, this unequivocal evil of humanity, is being sought for political and moral justification.
When a person justifies each subsequent level of violence, the line of moral permissibility becomes increasingly blurred. Therefore, society must clearly see that whoever justifies an attempted terrorist act today with “just goals” will also justify the murder of a person tomorrow, using the same formula. Moreover, we have repeatedly seen public joy over the death of opponents from representatives of the same political circle.
"So, some willingly and some unwillingly, some consciously and some unconsciously, this entire cohort has formed into a hostile fifth column operating against the country, which enjoys a green light from outside for radicalism, extremism, and now terrorism," the Speaker of Parliament wrote on social media.
