Kaja Kallas' statement is anti-democratic – she considers the Georgian people to be incompetent crowd who do not even have the ability to elect their own government - it is a great danger when the European Union is represented in foreign relations today by a person who has anti-democratic thinking, - the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, told journalists, thus responding to the statement of the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.

In his assessment, this is a shameful statement.

Papuashvili noted that it is thanks to Kaja Kallas that the European Union today has "such a reckless foreign policy."

“Any person who uses this formula: “supports the Georgian people, but does not support their government,” does not recognize democracy and is anti-democratic. Accordingly, this statement by Kaja Kallas is anti-democratic. Also, this person does not respect Georgia’s sovereignty, that the Georgian people should elect their own government. Third, such a person considers the Georgian people to be incompetent crowd that do not even have the ability to elect their own government. Yes, this statement by Kaja Kallas directly means that Ms. Kallas considers us, the Georgian people, to be the incompetent crowd that do not have the ability to elect their own government and that we need Kallas’s guardianship, that the former Prime Minister of Estonia should lead Georgia by the hand. She sees the statehood of the Georgian people at this level, that she should lead us by the hand, teach us wisdom and dictate to us what is good for us and what is not. This is shameful! This is the most shameful statement, which directly emphasizes how Ms. Kallas is not only out of touch with European values, but also has no idea what democracy means at all. It is a great danger when the European Union is represented in foreign relations today by a person who has anti-democratic thinking.

It is precisely because of this that the US Secretary of State does not even meet her, nor does she include her in any dialogue of international importance. It is also because of this that the reform and reorganization of this agency has been planned recently, since it is thanks to Ms. Kallas that the European Union has such a reckless foreign policy today. This is a shameful statement - we always refrain from critical comments, but when there is an attack on the Georgian people from any representative of Brussels, there will be an adequate response to any such attack! - Papuashvili said.

For information, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaia Kallas, stated that “we have no connections with the Georgian government and we do not want to support it - we want to support the Georgian people.”

According to her, the EU discussed how to act so that the Georgian people do not lose hope in Europe. In addition, as she noted, various countries located around the Black Sea play an important role in the implementation of the Black Sea Strategy, while they are currently struggling with Georgia.
