"No one is interested in apologies made behind closed doors! We are not leaving this international organization [the OSCE]; however, given its low reputation, it is natural that we have questions," Georgian Dream MP Irakli Kadagishvili said while speaking to journalists about future relations with the OSCE.
According to him, some senior officials in the European Union did not like the OSCE's assessment of Georgia's 2024 parliamentary elections and, as a result, pressured the organization.
Kadagishvili claimed that, due to this pressure, the OSCE was forced first to remain silent and later to include in its final resolution a version of its assessment with a "100% reversed meaning."
"Recently, the OSCE/ODIHR's main mission has been observing elections, assessing them, and preparing conclusions. Regarding the 2024 elections, they issued a conclusion stating that the elections had taken place and were competitive. This document did not contain issues that would call the legitimacy of the elections into question.
Therefore, we remember statements by EU leaders that they would wait specifically for the OSCE's conclusion. However, it turned out that they did not like the choice made by the Georgian people. As a result, they put pressure on the OSCE, which was forced first to remain silent and then, in the final resolution, to include its own conclusion with a meaning that was completely reversed.
Therefore, the question naturally arises: Is this organization responsible and faithful to the conclusion of its official mission, or has it simply become a structure subject to manipulation and blackmail, being used as a tool of pressure against Georgia?
Georgia has a legitimate expectation that the OSCE clearly express its position, and no one is interested in apologies made behind closed doors! We are not leaving this international organization, but given its low reputation, it is natural that we have these questions," Kadagishvili said.
