Irakli Kobakhidze: The European bureaucracy has entered a state of complete absurdity - while Georgia is ensuring Black Sea connectivity for seven countries, they are discussing Black Sea issues without Georgia!

"The European bureaucracy has entered a state of complete absurdity - while Georgia is ensuring Black Sea connectivity for seven countries, they are discussing Black Sea issues without Georgia!" Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said today.

According to him, the European bureaucracy talks separately about the Georgian people and separately about the government, "even though the Georgian people have firmly expressed their trust in the government of Georgia."

"In 2024 and 2025, the government received the support of more than 1.1 million voters in elections. This represents very strong support from the Georgian people. When, at such a time, they try to artificially separate the Georgian people and the government from each other, this is the same approach that we previously saw regarding our occupied territories, when the Russian Federation does not recognize Georgia's sovereignty over 20% of its territory.

Now we see that Ms. Kaja Kallas does not recognize Georgia's sovereignty over 100% of its territory, which is both a source of irony and a very tragic development for the European bureaucracy," Kobakhidze said.

For reference, Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said in response to a question from "Euroscope" before a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels that "we practically have no connection with the Georgian government and we do not want to support it — we want to support the Georgian people."

According to Kallas, the EU discussed how to act in a way that would prevent the Georgian people from losing hope in Europe. She also noted that, during the implementation of the Black Sea strategy, various countries around the Black Sea play an important role, although there are currently difficulties regarding Georgia.
