According to him, as a result of the search, a particularly large amount of various types of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances were seized, including: "Methadone", "Alpha-PVP", "Cocaine", "Ketamine", "Buprenorphine", "Marijuana" and the plant "Cannabis".
“As a result of operational measures and investigative actions carried out throughout the country, the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested 121 people on charges of drug crimes, including 59 people involved in various forms of drug trafficking. Among the detainees are both Georgian and foreign citizens.
The police, based on a judge’s ruling, carried out several controlled purchases of narcotics and secretly recorded the aforementioned purchases with audio and video.
As a result of searches of the defendants’ personal, residential homes and vehicles, as well as during the investigative experiment conducted, from the places indicated by them, law enforcement officers seized as evidence, Various types of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in particularly large quantities, including: "Methadone", "Alpha-PVP", "Cocaine", "Ketamine", "Buprenorphine", "Marijuana" and the plant "Cannabis", etc.
The police also seized materials necessary for packaging narcotic drugs, electric scales and money allegedly received as a result of drug sales. The investigation is underway under Articles 260, 260 Tertsia, 260 Quarta, 261 and 265 Prima of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs actively continues its uncompromising fight against drug crime. This is confirmed by statistical data for the first six months of the current year. During the reporting period, about 5,000 people were prosecuted for drug crimes, including about 1,000 people involved in drug trafficking in various ways. Compared to the same period last year, the number of people prosecuted for drug crimes has increased by 85%.
