“Today, Georgia and Turkmenistan are stable and reliable trading partners. Last year, trade turnover between our countries increased by 26% and exceeded USD 100 million,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said in his address to the Georgia-Turkmenistan Business Forum.
According to the Prime Minister, positive dynamics have continued this year as well.
“I am pleased to welcome you to the opening of the second Georgia-Turkmenistan Business Forum. Today’s meeting is further evidence that the partnership between our countries is developing successfully and creating more and more opportunities for the private sector, investors and the business community.
“First and foremost, I would like to express my special respect to the President of Turkmenistan, Mr. Serdar Berdimuhamedov. Your state visit to Georgia clearly reflects the mutual trust between our countries and the strategic importance of our cooperation.
“I would also like to thank the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for organizing this important business forum. I am confident that the event will contribute to establishing new business ties and implementing mutually beneficial projects.
“Today, Georgia and Turkmenistan are stable and reliable trading partners. Last year, trade turnover between our countries increased by 26% and exceeded USD 100 million. Positive dynamics have continued this year as well. These figures clearly confirm that economic cooperation is growing. Despite the progress achieved, trade and economic relations between our countries still do not fully reflect the significant potential that Georgia and Turkmenistan possess. That is why it is important to strengthen joint efforts, further expand cooperation, facilitate the establishment of new business ties and fully capitalize on the opportunities offered by our partnership,” Irakli Kobakhidze said.
Kobakhidze also said that the results of an ambitious agenda aimed at improving infrastructure were already evident, noting that in 2025 the volume of container shipments along the Middle Corridor via Georgia increased by 33%, while cargo turnover on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway route nearly increased sixfold.
The Prime Minister said Turkmenistan’s interest in expanding logistics and warehousing capabilities near Georgia’s Black Sea ports was welcome.
“We welcome Turkmenistan’s interest in expanding logistics and warehousing capabilities near Georgia’s Black Sea ports. I am confident that the existing ports, as well as the Anaklia Deep Sea Port and the free industrial zone planned on its basis, will become an important platform for Turkmen companies to access regional markets.
“Today, more than ever, the role of the private sector is particularly important, because it is business that transforms political partnerships between countries into concrete economic results. The state ensures a stable, predictable and competitive environment, while the private sector creates new initiatives, investments and jobs,” the Prime Minister said.
