Russia and Azerbaijan are conducting an active political dialogue at all levels, - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said after a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
"We are conducting an active dialogue on foreign policy at all levels," - Lavrov said at a joint press conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart.
In addition, according to Lavrov, Russia expects the next ministerial meeting of the "3+3" format to be held in the near future.
“We hope that our Azerbaijani and Armenian colleagues will soon agree on the schedule of the next ministerial and decide where it will be held - in Baku or Yerevan,” Lavrov noted.
According to him, the “3+3” format has sufficient potential for the development of regional cooperation.
“We touched upon the attempts of the collective Western countries to use the South Caucasus as an arena for geopolitical confrontation. In this context, the “3+3” platform for regional cooperation has significant potential. It unites the three countries of the South Caucasus - Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia - and their neighbors: Russia, Iran and Turkey,” Lavrov noted.
According to him, this mechanism is aimed at solving any regional challenges by the countries of the region and their neighbors themselves, “without destructive external interference.”
According to Russian media, the Foreign Ministers of Russia and Azerbaijan signed a plan for consultations for 2026-2027. The plan includes a schedule of meetings between representatives of the agencies and topics to be discussed.
