The Coalition for Change appeals to EU leaders to raise the issue of de-recognition of Georgia's occupied territories in their communications with the Syrian government.

Giga Lemonjava, a member of Droa, and Giorgi Imedashvili, a member of the Akhali party, held a joint briefing. As noted at the briefing, the EU is ready to assist Syria if the country adheres to the principles of international law, including confirming the territorial integrity of Georgia and Ukraine.

"Today, the Coalition for Change is sending a special appeal to the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, the President of the European Commission, the President of the European Council, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the EU member states, in order to further intensify the issue of de-recognition of the occupied territories of Georgia in communication with the Syrian authorities. After the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued special appeals to the Syrian Parliament on July 17, the political context has become even clearer: the EU is ready to assist Syria if the country upholds the principles of international law, including reaffirming the territorial integrity of Georgia and Ukraine. Against this backdrop, Ivanishvili's regime declares the Chinese Communist Party, which does not recognize Georgia's territorial integrity and is subordinate to the Kremlin, which has occupied our lands, as a strategic ally," reads the Coalition for Change statement.
