According to the criteria of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, we have more than 90 political prisoners in the country - neither Putin nor Lukashenko have so many political prisoners - with this trend, Ivanishvili's regime will soon overtake the legacy of Soviet Georgia, - one of the leaders of Strong Georgia-Lelo, Giorgi Sioridze, stated, responding to the information disseminated by Transparency International-Georgia.
According to him, the Georgian Dream regime has created a violent and criminal law enforcement system.
According to Sioridze, “political prisoners should be released immediately, regardless of the form of this – whether they are acquitted through a court, pardoned or otherwise.”
“The Georgian Dream regime has created a violent and criminal law enforcement system. The Murusidze-Chinchaladze clan has completely subordinated the court. According to the criteria of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, we have more than 90 political prisoners in the country. The majority of them meet all five criteria set by PACE. Neither Putin nor Lukashenko has so many political prisoners. With this trend, Ivanishvili’s regime will soon surpass the legacy of Soviet Georgia. The purpose of having political prisoners and captives is to trade between them, although the European Union has a very clear position on this. As the Austrian Foreign Minister recently stated, this is not a market, as Ivanishvili thinks he can trade in captives. Therefore, these people must be released immediately, regardless of the legal form or mechanism - acquittal through the court, pardon or something else. The era of political prisoners in this country must end once and for all,” said Giorgi Sioridze.
For information, according to the updated report of Transparency International - Georgia, 91 people meet the criteria for political prisoners established by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). According to them, according to international standards, even the presence of 1 criterion is sufficient.
The document combines an updated list of political prisoners, their charges, terms of sentence and specific criteria.
