The goal of the Georgian Dream is intimidation and self-censorship - haven't we seen the foul language of the Georgian Dream MPs?! Hasn’t there been an incident of violence in the parliament just now?! They are not fighting it. The only thing is that criticism against the Georgian Dream should not be heard in the country. Everything else is permissible from their side, - this is how the former head of IDFED Nino Dolidze assessed the imposition of 14-day administrative detention on journalist Vakho Sanaia on Palitranews.

As Nino Dolidze noted, hate speech has a completely different definition than how the Georgian Dream has translated.

“Vakho Sanaia is fighting to protect freedom of expression. No justification can be found for the court’s decision. This contradicts both the constitution of the court and freedom of expression, as well as all democratic international standards.

There may be several reasons for this court’s decision:

First: the Georgian Dream is trying to adopt repressive legislation aimed at eliminating protests and dissent in the country.

Second: their goal is intimidation and self-censorship. Of course, we see that such a step of theirs is unsuccessful... They fine and detain people, but they can no longer continue all this. This is an authoritarian action, it has nothing to do with the law. These fines were absurd from the beginning. In general, it is unthinkable to persecute Facebook posts, freedom of expression and criticism.

Hate speech has a completely different definition, but the Georgian Dream is now calling all insults or criticism hate speech. As if they are fighting this. Absurdity was part of Sanaia’s fine and imprisonment in general. Unfortunately, foul language will not surprise anyone in Georgia. We have heard all this from many places. It is very obvious that the Georgian Dream is not fighting hatred and violence. What they have been doing in recent years is, on the contrary, inciting hate speech and violence. This is selective in punishing critics. Haven’t we seen the foul language of the Georgian Dream MPs?! Wasn’t there a fact of violence in parliament just now?! They are not fighting this. The only thing that should not be heard in this country is criticism against the Georgian Dream. Everything else is permissible from their side," Dolidze noted.

In addition, Nino Dolidze also responded to the attack on comedian Onise Okriashvili. As Nino Dolidze explained, she shares Onise Okriashvili's statement that what happened to him was incited by the Georgian Dream and that Georgian society is not that "violent and hateful of each other."

“For years, the Georgian Dream has been trying to use hate speech, break bridges, and polarize. Using information operations, they are constantly trying to sow the language of hatred. The Georgian Dream is trying to crush society with this hatred, so that it will be easier for them to govern later. They are trying to pit us against each other, to introduce topics that are divisive, to create an “enemy image” and to make us fight over it, in order to use all this as a pretext. I think that all this is artificially increased and I do not think that Georgian society is actually that violent or hateful towards each other. That is why I also think, as Onise thinks, that it was incited by the Georgian Dream party, what happened to him, ”said Nino Dolidze.

In addition to the above topics, Nino Dolidze also assessed the fact that the consideration of the so-called sabotage case has been suspended for a certain period and will be resumed in the fall. Nino Dolidze shares the opinion that the resumption of the consideration of the so-called sabotage case may be the result of international pressure.

“I don’t think that Ivanishvili and the Georgian Dream have become more noble. In my opinion, they feel isolation well, it is unthinkable that such an authoritarian regime can last for a long time if they don’t have any connections. Despite the fact that the Georgian Dream claims that resolutions are worthless and they don’t care, they know very well that they are important. Whenever the next elections are, if they are held under the same conditions and with fraud, they will not be recognized," Dolidze noted.
