Whether I will put forward my candidacy [for the position of chairperson of the “National Movement”] will depend on the following factors - I do not look at this process as if the party only needs a change of names and surnames. The party needs correspondence with the idea that Mikheil Saakashvili called on us to follow: that the “National Movement” should become more popular, and this requires systemic reform, - this is what “National Movement” member Ana Tsitlidze told journalists.

Ana Tsitlidze names two components for implementing systemic reform in the party - the broad involvement of party members in the decision-making process and the financial independence of the party. According to her, for the post of party chairperson she will support the candidate who takes these two components into account when reforming the party; otherwise, she will consider her own candidacy. As Ana Tsitlidze explains, all of this will become clear after six months, when they work together with the Reform Council.

“I welcome every person, of course Nanuka as well, and every person who will join the ‘National Movement’ and who will say that they will be with us in this hellish struggle in which the ‘United National Movement’ has been for 14 years, whoever that may be, of course including Nanuka Zhorzholiani.

Now, regarding my candidacy - I have made several statements in this regard and I will repeat once again that nothing is ruled out; whether I will put forward my candidacy will depend on the following factors - I do not look at this process as if the party only needs a change of names and surnames. The party needs correspondence with the idea that Mikheil Saakashvili called on us to follow: that the ‘National Movement’ should become more popular; this requires systemic reform, and systemic reform is to be implemented taking into account two main components: first, this is the broad involvement of party members in the decision-making process; we have this mechanism, the Political Council is a representative body that is elected by our party members, but there is an additional mechanism as well which means that our many thousands of party members will be involved in the process of making specific decisions. Second - this is the financial independence of the party, which will also depend entirely on donations from our party as a whole,” Ana Tsitlidze stated.
