The Prime Minister: Attempts by foreign special services and destructive forces to cause the destabilization of the country and the violent change of the government have been successfully thwarted - however, the threats have not disappeared

Eleven years ago the State Security Service of Georgia was created — an institution that plays the most important role in the protection of Georgia’s constitutional order, state sovereignty, and the security of every citizen, — this is what the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, stated in his speech at the event dedicated to the 11th anniversary of the founding of the State Security Service.

According to the head of the government, the most important foundation of the country’s democratic and economic development and progress is peace and stability, which is based precisely on the daily efforts of every employee of the State Security Service.

“Standing on the guard of peace is daily associated with high risk. I pay tribute to the memory of the heroic officers who perished while performing their official duties.

Against the background of the complex geopolitical situation existing in the world today and the serious security challenges in our region, the attempts by foreign special services and destructive forces to cause the destabilization of the country and the violent change of the government have been successfully thwarted. However, the threats have not disappeared.

One of the most important challenges of our country remains the occupation of Georgia’s territories. The foremost priority of our government is immediate response to destructive actions along the occupation line and the protection of the fundamental rights of our fellow citizens living in the occupied territories,” Irakli Kobakhidze stated.
