According to the Prime Minister, the Georgian side is "patiently waiting" for the countermeasures of the American side.

“We maintain optimistic expectations that the strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States will be restored. We are in communication with our American partners. We hope that we will see reciprocal steps that will ultimately ensure the restoration of the strategic partnership. This is our task and we are patiently waiting for reciprocal steps from the American side,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze also spoke about Congressman Joe Wilson’s statement.

According to Irakli Kobakhidze, they “don’t care what another agent of the “deep state”, Mr. Joe Wilson, will say.”

“In general, the spread of hatred in our country is the result of a deliberate process. All this was done from the outside. For information, US Congressman Joe Wilson said that the Georgian Dream is destroying freedom of speech and that this pro-Russian, pro-Iranian, pro-Chinese regime hates America.

He also announced that he would soon submit a bill that would “counter this “woke” censorship.”

Earlier, the US Embassy in Georgia responded to a question from Radio Liberty regarding the arrest of citizens for insulting politicians on social media and the newly created “Department for Combating Hate Speech” by saying that it was “concerned about the creation of this department.”

"We are concerned about the Georgian government's hate speech department. The best response to lies and misinformation is more freedom of speech, not enforced silence," the embassy told Radio Liberty.
