As for the insults of our public figures, historical figures, including the insults of great kings and saints, these are not the initiatives of individual people - the goal is to undermine our national identity, which we must confront in every way, however, this must be done within the framework of the law, including by regulating the legislation, and we must actively discuss this, - Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated when answering a question of how he would assess the establishment of initiative groups, which were created to protect the holy sites.

According to Kobakhidze, just as it is necessary to confront hatred, it is also necessary to confront everything that is being carried out in an organized manner in Georgia by external orders.

"I can tell you what we should do in this regard. These are not the initiatives of individual people, which are related to the insult of our public figures, historical figures, including the insult of great kings and saints. This is also an external order. When we talk about hatred imposed from the outside, this is also a continuation of this. The goal of these forces is that there is nothing sacred in Georgia, that the country does not have a pillar of identity. Historical, public figures are the pillar of the identity of any nation. Precisely in order to undermine the national identity of our country, they attack our public figures, historical figures. Levan Berdzenishvili did this, and now little Levan Berdzenishvilis are being brought out and making statements. We must confront this too. Just as we need to confront hatred, we also need to confront everything that is organized and carried out in Georgia by external order. This is done by foreign agents. Their goal is to undermine our national identity, we must oppose all this in every way, but this must be done within the framework of the law, including by regulating the legislation, and we must actively discuss this,” the Prime Minister said.

For information, on July 30, a new initiative group was founded, which demands the creation of an appropriate legislative framework to protect Georgian identity, national unity and civil peace. Its members are actor Giorgi Shanidze, director Giorgi Sikharulidze and Batumi Theater Director Kote Mzhavia.

Before that, MMA fighter Giorgi Kartvelishvili, together with his associates, founded a movement, which, according to him, “was created to protect Georgian values and traditions.”
