According to Kobakhidze, the adoption of the law is being protested by those people who sow hatred and aggression in the country.

“We have not yet discussed the draft law. I can only tell you one thing - it is really necessary to respond to the coordinated attack against our identity.

We are doing everything we can to prevent hatred from artificially spreading in society. We have adopted relevant laws for this. You know, they even protested this - a law that serves to prevent hatred in society, they openly protested this too and did not shy away from openly saying that they are sowing hatred. Those who protested the adoption of the law are the ones sowing hatred and aggression from outside and inside the country.

As for the specific insults to saints, our great kings and public figures, this is also a chain of ordered coordinated actions. These are not just incompetent people. These are people who are carrying out a specific order. The essence of their order is simple - they must try to weaken our national identity! That is why they are doing all this. We must take all measures in order to confront such processes, if it is necessary to adopt a law for this, we can discuss this as well,” Irakli Kobakhidze said.

For information, last week, a new initiative group was created, which demands the creation of an appropriate legislative framework to protect Georgian identity, national unity and civil peace. The group’s members are actor Giorgi Shanidze, director Giorgi Sikharulidze and Batumi Theater Director Kote Mzhavia.
