For information, the State Security Department of the State Security Service has launched an investigation under the article of sabotage in connection with a discrediting information campaign directed from a foreign country and supported from Georgia to the detriment of the state interests of Georgia. According to the State Security Service, the case concerns the deliberate dissemination of information containing discrediting content against the interests of Georgia on various social platforms by fake so-called bot accounts registered and managed in a foreign country, which serves to damage the economic interests of Georgia. The State Security Service explains that the goal of the campaign is to spread disinformation and create a false perception that an unfavorable environment has been created in Georgia for tourists from the Russian Federation.
